about

Divided into 5 instant compositions, Gyre takes Piloot’s iconic unpredictable Trance-Machine a step further. Presented as a diptych with previous release Recuerda Tu Futuro; both were recorded during the same 4 day session. Gyre hypnotises, captivates and plunges us into an ephemeral meditative state reminiscent of the 70's German Kraut bands. An enveloping and mesmerizing one of a kind experience.

The album opens with eponym track Gyre. An underlying electric current spins upwards till its apex in a transfixing resolution, bringing to mind Mogwai’s early work; but perhaps with more madness.
Esker drives us on a hypnotic journey, deep melodies brought into motion by rolling ecstatic drums.
Truly a ‘trialogue’, Yarn leads you to an electronic vortex, reshaping the helix into a triangular riddle. Ridge’s profound sound is like a swan diving into a dark lake at night.
Heel strikes a more intimate and peaceful note. The listener is left with a feeling of contemplation allowing him a reminiscence of the transient hearing experience

Gyre is a triumphant record in its entirety, digging deeper into the possibilities of interactions between the three musicians and their capacity to respond, crashing acoustic sounds into electronics. It’s all about balance and resilience, risk taking and trust, exploration and belaying. Finding equilibrium through movement and rotation, revealing the gyre.
